Nirmal: A man, with the help of his brother, murdered his alcoholic son and then surrendered before the police at Thanur mandal headquarters on Wednesday night.
Police said Raju, 31, a daily wage labourer from Thanur, died on the spot after being beaten black and blue with a stick and having his legs broken by his father, Lalanna, and uncle, Laxman, at their residence at around 9 pm. Both Lalanna and Laxman later confessed to the crime before the police.
Lalanna admitted that he killed his son as he had been harassed for a long time due to Raju’s addiction to liquor. He told the police that Raju remained idle after marrying a woman in 2019, and alleged that he grew fed up with his behaviour and decided to eliminate him with the help of Laxman. Raju is survived by his wife and two sons.
Based on a complaint lodged by Raju’s mother, a murder case has been registered against Lalanna and Laxman. Investigation is underway.
