Warangal: Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Thursday urged people aged above 18 years to get vaccinated against COVID-19, pointing out that the State government was setting up vaccination at village level to cover all the people, “A total of 2.80 crore people above the age of 18 years are to be vaccinated in the State. So far, 2.17 crore people have been vaccinated. Of them, 1.45 crore got the first jab, and the remaining 55 lakh got the second jab too,” he said.
The Minister was speaking after launching the special vaccination programme in several villages in erstwhile Warangal district. “The State government under the guidance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had made all arrangements to provide vaccine shots to the people aged above 18 years to protect them from Covid,” he said.
“The spread of the virus is under check now. However, we are taking steps to ensure cent per cent vaccination to the people in the State,” he added. Rao has urged the mandal level officials of departments to coordinate with each other and make the special vaccination drive a success. “In all the villages and towns, Asha workers, Anganwadi teachers and staff of the local bodies went door to door and prepared a list of those who had not been vaccinated. Vaccinate those who are identified and affix a sticker stating that the members of the family above 18 years were vaccinated at the home,” he directed, and also asked the district collectors to appoint ‘Special Officer; to oversee the progress of the vaccination process for each municipality and mandal.
