Telangana: One died, another washed away in Kakatiya canal near Huzurabad

Karimnagar: While a person drowned, another went missing in Kakatiya canal near Pothireddypeta of Huzurabad mandal on Tuesday.

According to police, residents of Pothireddypet, Renigunta Suresh (35) and Jupaka Srihari (45) got down into Kakatiya canal DBM 15 to have a bath.

However, they accidentally slipped into water and washed away. While they were washing away in the waters, local people swung into action and tried to rescue Suresh but in vain. However, he died by the time he was brought to the bank.

Knowing about the incident, police visited the spot and launched a search for Srihari. Srihari was survived by wife, daughter and son.

Based on the complaint lodged by the family members, they registered the case and begun search operation, said Huzurabad town CI Thirumala Goud.
