Hyderabad: More than 9.25 lakh students have so far registered for the Intermediate Public Examinations which will be conducted by Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE) from May 1. Of the total students who paid fee for inter exams, 94,793 were from first year and 83,712 were from second-year intermediate courses offered by the government junior colleges.

According to a senior official of the Board, the number of students enrolling in the government junior colleges have gone up for the academic year 2020-21. While about 65,000 first year students registered for the exam last year, this number has gone up to 94,793 now.

In view of the Covid pandemic, the Board has initiated several measures for smooth conduct of the examinations. To ensure physical distancing among students during the examination, it has decided to enhance number of examination centres and will be utilising 300 to 400 government schools and degree college premises for holding the examinations.

“Last time, there were 1,339 exam centres across the State. This year, we will constitute 1,800 to 2,000 centres. More number of centres is being constituted to ensure physical distancing is followed during the examination. We will be using schools and colleges, this time. Accordingly, we have written to departments concerned and they have agreed to provide their facilities,” an official said.

As per schedule earlier announced by the Board, the IPE will commence with intermediate first year second language paper-I on May 1 followed by the second year second language paper-II on May 2. The exams will conclude with modern language paper-II and geography paper-II on May 20.

The Board will be holding ethics and human values examination on April 1 and environmental education exam on April 3. The practical examinations are scheduled to be held from April 7 to 20 in two sessions i.e. from 9 am to 12 noon, and 2 pm to 5 pm.

With a late fee of Rs 1,000, inter exam fee can be paid up to March 15 and with a late fee of Rs 2,000 exam fee will be accepted from March 16 to 22.
