Hyderabad: Amid growing concern over the large number of vacant seats and employability of the postgraduates, the Telangana Council of Higher Education, along with the State universities, is planning to revamp the PG courses curriculum to align with the industry demands and enhance students’ employability quotient. The Council intends to scrap PG programmes, which are no longer relevant.
TGCHE Chairman Prof V Balakista Reddy, who completed one year in office here on Saturday, has also drawn up plans to rationalise degree colleges in the State. According to Prof Reddy, 4,38,387 seats were up for grabs in 967 colleges. However, only 2.05 lakh seats could be filled in the DOST 2025 counselling.
Rolling out a roadmap for the next year, Prof Reddy said the Council, in collaboration with the universities, would be setting up regional academic and innovation clusters, focusing on innovation and incubation.
The AI-driven governance systems would be expanded in the higher education institutions and introduction of open-access digital learning platforms, which aid students in their preparation, he said.
Dual-degree programmes offered by the universities in collaboration with foreign universities and quality assurance frameworks would be strengthened, he said, adding that partnerships with the global industries and global universities would be strengthened.
