Mancherial: The State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) Srirampur is lagging behind the annual target of coal production set for 2024-25 fiscal.
Srirampur Area, one of the major units of SCCL, saw production of coal by 53.66 lakh tonnes as against the target of 60.38 lakh tonnes from April 1 to March 20, reflecting an achievement of 89 per cent, worrying officials of the coal major. Absence of young staffers was attributed to the dip in coal output.
When it comes to opencast mining projects (OCP) and underground mine-wise performance, IK OCP was at the bottom with 1.43 lakh tonnes when compared to the annual target of 6.06 lakh tonnes, posting an achievement of 42 percent of production. The other underground mines located in the Area RK-5, RK-7, SRP-1, SRP 3 and IK1A witnessed somewhere between 77 and 91 per cent of coal output.
However, SRSP OCP stood in the top position by registering 3.38 lakh tonnes of coal when compared to the annual target of 3.05 lakh tonnes, reflecting 111 per cent of production. RK New Tech underground mine witnessed 1.53 lakh tonnes in this financial year, showing an achievement by 107 per cent of production. RKP-6 recorded 182,413 tonnes of coal when compared to 1.72 lakh tonnes, achieving 106 percent of output till now.
Officials said that steps were being taken to enhance the performance of the Area. They stated that incentives were announced to boost performance of coal miners. TSRSP OCP expressed confidence that the unit would be able to achieve the annual target in the remaining week.
