Khammam: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said the Telangana government was working towards generating 20,000 megawatts of renewable energy, with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) already signed for setting up solar power plants worth Rs 1 lakh crore.
He said the peak power demand in 2023 was 15,000 megawatts, and though it rose to 17,162 megawatts in March 2025, the government had ensured an uninterrupted power supply across the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that measures were being taken to meet an estimated demand of 26,000 megawatts by 2029–30, and 33,773 megawatts by 2034–35.
New sectors such as battery storage were also being explored to enhance power generation and efficiency.
Earlier in the day, Vikramarka, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and TGNPDCL Chairman and Managing Director K Varun Reddy, launched emergency response team vehicles, popularly known as electricity ambulances.
Varun Reddy said the electricity ambulances would help address complaints received through the emergency number 1912 more swiftly. Each vehicle would be equipped with an advanced toolkit and a dedicated technical team.
