Telangana Vigilance & Enforcement Department detects Rs 1,228 crore tax evasion in 2025
The Vigilance & Enforcement Department intensified inspections across the State in 2025, detecting over Rs 1,228 crore in tax evasion and recovering Rs 213 crore. Thousands of checks and inspections helped curb irregularities in transport, civil supplies, and procurement sectors.

Hyderabad: The Vigilance & Enforcement (V&E) Department has recorded significant achievements through intensified enforcement and inspection drives across the State during the year 2025, resulting in substantial detection of tax evasion, recovery of revenue, and prevention of irregularities.
During the year, 292 enquiries were entrusted to the department, while 480 enquiries were completed and submitted by field units, indicating improved efficiency in enquiry disposal, a press release said. Tax evasions to the tune of Rs 1228.31 crore were detected, of which a remarkable Rs 213.58 crore was realised.
As part of routine enforcement activities, 203 route checks were conducted and 18,137 vehicles were checked. These operations resulted in the booking of 3,994 cases and collection of Rs 12.51 crore towards penalties and taxes.
In the Civil Supplies sector, 451 inspections were conducted covering Fair Price Shops (FPS), MLS points, and private premises. Consequently, 53 cases under Section 6A, 38 IPC cases, and 24 other cases were booked. Further, 24 vehicles were seized and essential commodities worth Rs 114.95 crore were confiscated.
The Vigilance & Enforcement Department specifically focused on sensitive and priority areas such as cotton procurement, paddy procurement, seed procurement, distribution of urea, overloading of passenger and transport vehicles, with the objective of protecting farmer’s interests and public safety, the release added.
