Hyderabad: Students of the Tribal Welfare Residential College for Girls at Tunkalguda in Vikarabad district staged a protest on campus on Thursday, demanding urgent deployment of adequate teaching staff.
Holding placards and chanting slogans such as “We want faculty,” the students accused the management of ignoring their repeated pleas over the past two months regarding the acute shortage of teachers.
They alleged that there were no faculty members for core subjects like Chemistry, Mathematics, and others. Classes have been irregular, reportedly due to unresolved salary issues affecting existing teachers. Some faculty members were transferred to other institutions a few weeks ago, worsening the situation.
In a video of the protest that has gone viral on social media, students said that while some lectures were being conducted online, the college has only one digital classroom. This has forced multiple subject sessions to be held simultaneously, affecting learning quality.
The protesting students demanded immediate intervention from the Tribal Welfare Department’s head office and warned of intensifying their agitation if no action is taken.
