Karimnagar: Penchala Venkataiah and Bommana Rajanna, the two workers from Telangana State who were stranded in Kabul after the takeover by the Taliban, have been shifted to London, and are now on a 15-day quarantine before they can fly back home.
The management of ACCL, the company that they were working for, shifted all its employees to London by a cargo flight on Friday night. Venkataiah, Rajanna and the other workers, however, will be in quarantine for 15 days following the Covid-19 pandemic. The two will subsequently be sent back home after their travel documents are processed.
A native of Odyaram of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar, Venkataiah migrated to Afghanistan in search of employment 15 years ago and was hired by ACCL at an American military base camp near Kasab area. Rajanna, who hails from Mancherial town, visited home in June last and flew back to Kabul on August 7.
The family members of the two, who were worried about their safety, heaved a sigh of relief when they were informed about their being shifted to London.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Venkataiah’s son Sai Teja said the family spoke to him a couple of days ago after he was shifted to London.
