Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday said the Congress government was driving away major industries from Telangana due to its incompetence and corruption, resulting in massive job losses. He held Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy responsible for Telangana losing its hard-earned industrial edge.
Rama Rao, who served as the Industries Minister in the previous BRS government, expressed anguish that Kaynes Technology, a semiconductor firm that had committed an investment of Rs 2,800 crore and 2,000 jobs in Telangana, had now shifted to Gujarat. The industry, which was originally headed to Karnataka, was brought to Telangana during the BRS rule through proactive measures and land allocation near Foxconn in Kongara Kalan within ten days of the company’s request.
“The Congress government’s inefficiency and corruption have chased away an investment that would have created thousands of jobs for Telangana youth. We had built confidence in global firms through transparency and integrity. Now, in just a few months, that trust has been shattered due to the Congress government’s negligence,” he remarked.
The BRS working president stated that Revanth Reddy was not responding even as companies were exiting one after another. He compared the contrasting approaches of the Congress and the BRS governments.
“If Telangana was in autopilot mode of development during BRS rule, it has now entered auto-destruction mode under Revanth Reddy,” he added.
He said the Congress government had destroyed in months what BRS had built over a decade, especially “Brand Hyderabad” and “Brand Telangana” as prime destinations for investment.
Accusing the Congress of prioritising personal and political survival over governance, Rama Rao said Revanth Reddy had pawned Telangana to his Delhi bosses only to safeguard his chair.
“This government’s only agenda is to use Telangana as an ATM for the Congress high command,” he said.
He reminded that under the BRS, Telangana had emerged as a hub for global investment with initiatives like TS-iPASS, attracting companies from around the world.
“We worked tirelessly for ten years to create an ecosystem for industries. But all that hard work went in vain due to the Congress government’s reckless approach,” he said.
The former Minister warned that the Kaynes episode should serve as a wake-up call.
“If Revanth Reddy does not act immediately, more companies will pack up and leave Telangana,” he cautioned, urging the government to prioritise industrial growth and employment rather than focusing on commissions and appeasing Delhi masters.
