Hanamkonda: Taking a significant step towards providing international-standard higher education opportunities to students from Telangana, Kakatiya University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Germany’s Reutlingen University.

The signing of the MoU was a result of Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K Pratap Reddy and Education Department Principal Secretary Yogita Rana’s visit to Reutlingen University a couple of months ago.

In an online event held at Osmania University in Hyderabad on Monday, Prof. Pratap Reddy along with Registrar V Ramachandram exchanged the MoU with Reutlingen University representatives Prof. Brune Jochen and Stefan Deglemann.

As part of the agreement, KU students would get an opportunity to pursue higher education in Germany through a ‘3 2’ master’s programme. Students would complete the first three years of their education at KU and the subsequent two years of master’s studies at Reutlingen University.

Students who successfully complete the initial three years would be awarded an undergraduate degree by Kakatiya University, followed by a master’s degree from Reutlingen University upon completion of the programme.

Students from computer science, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) engineering disciplines would be offered the opportunity to pursue a Master of Professional Software Engineering at Reutlingen University, while students from other disciplines could pursue a Master of Digital Business Management.

Under this initiative, 20 students from Kakatiya University would be selected based on merit and reservation criteria with partial support from the university. The agreement would facilitate opportunities for advanced studies and future employment in Germany for Telangana students.

Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Professor Kumar Molugaram, KU OSD Prof. Venkatram Reddy and RUSA nodal officer Professor Mallikarjun Reddy were present, said an official release.
