Hyderabad: The theater strike issue in Telangana has taken a surprising turn, with fresh allegations coming from the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) Secretary Sridhar. On Saturday, during an interaction with the Telugu film media, Sridhar accused two producers and two directors of being the key forces behind the strike, though he did not name anyone directly.
He revealed that several theaters were blocked for the release of Hari Hara Veera Mallu, starring Pawan Kalyan. But with the film now postponed, theater owners are left with empty screens and significant financial losses for the month. “All our efforts to block theaters have gone to waste,” Sridhar said.
Highlighting the overall performance of Telugu cinema in 2025, Sridhar mentioned that only Sankranthiki Vasthunam, Court, and Mad Square have been successful so far. He also pointed to the growing issue of inflated actor remunerations, saying, “Actors who are unable to bring even Rs 2 crore in share collections are demanding Rs 13 crore. Our heroes became stars in single screens, now that very system is at risk.”
Sridhar’s comments have sparked conversations within the industry, raising questions about accountability and sustainability. Whether or not these concerns lead to action remains to be seen.
