Hyderabad: Grammy Award-winning electronic music duo The Chainsmokers are set to return to India with a three-city tour in December 2026, marking their highly anticipated comeback to the country a decade after the release of their global hit ‘Closer’.

The tour will begin in Mumbai on December 18, followed by Delhi on December 19 and Bengaluru on December 20.

As part of the tour, the Mumbai leg will see the duo headline Sunburn Festival 2026 at the iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse, signalling a significant new chapter for the festival as it expands into the heart of the city.

Tickets for the Mumbai and Bengaluru shows are currently available on BookMyShow, while fans in Delhi can register on the platform for updates and priority access to ticket-related information.

Over the past decade, The Chainsmokers have become one of the defining musical acts for millennials and Gen Z audiences worldwide. Tracks such as ‘Closer’, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, ‘Paris’ and ‘Something Just Like This’ have amassed global popularity and continue to resonate with listeners across generations.

Commenting on the announcement, Karan Singh, CEO of Sunburn, said the duo’s music has become deeply associated with defining moments in the lives of many young listeners.

“There are very few artists whose music instantly transports people back to a specific phase of their lives, and The Chainsmokers are certainly among them. For Indian millennials and Gen Z audiences, their songs became part of key youth culture moments over the last decade,” Singh said.

He added that the growing popularity of nostalgia-driven experiences and community-led fan engagement has amplified anticipation around the duo’s return to India.

The announcement also marks a significant moment for Sunburn Festival, which has evolved over nearly two decades into one of India’s most prominent electronic music and live entertainment properties.

According to organisers, the festival’s move to Mahalaxmi Racecourse reflects a broader ambition to create immersive, large-scale cultural experiences that align with the expectations of India’s young and rapidly growing live entertainment audience.

Comprising Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, The Chainsmokers are known for blending electronic dance music with mainstream pop influences. Their collaborations with artists such as Coldplay and Halsey, along with a string of chart-topping hits, have helped shape contemporary pop culture and electronic music over the past decade.

With The Chainsmokers now confirmed as part of Sunburn Festival 2026, anticipation is building among fans over which international and domestic artists will be announced next for the festival’s line-up.
