Hyderabad: Masumeh Makhija’s next film explores a very hard-hitting subject that has immense relevance in contemporary India. The film is titled Bhagwaan Bharose and is being directed by Shiladitya Bora and produced by Platoon One films.
The movie was shot in March, and the actor says that filming with a passionate director is always an adventure and a rewarding experience. “Coming back to the sets was great but we worked in a bubble, where everyone was tested regularly and wore masks. We were taking precautions and everything was sanitised for the safety of everyone,” shares Masumeh.
The actor also runs ‘The Creative Tribe’, a film and advertising production that has designed campaigns for brands like AGL Tiles, PGIM and Reliance Digital.
Masumeh spent the past year with her mother. “The lockdown truly put things into perspective. I was fortunate to have space where I could still explore my passions. It is where my show for Disney+ Hotstar called Eat. Love. Live. With Masumeh was created,” she adds.
The actor is someone who believes in holistic living, and fitness has been an integral part of her life. “I love doing yoga because it keeps a sound mind, body and soul. Cheat meals are as important as eating right. I have never believed in depriving myself of something my body craves. The secret is moderation. I have been using healthy alternatives like jaggery instead of white sugar, and fruits instead of candies. We Indians are so lucky, we have a choice of so many grains like bajra, amaranth, and jowar, and I substitute these for white flour. Simple changes create better habits,” feels Masumeh.
Any beauty regimen that she swears by? “Cold-pressed coconut oil is the best makeup remover you can use for dry skin. It has kept my skin looking young, hydrated and supple,” she answers.
The actor feels that it’s always good to look at life out of the box. “I love to travel, explore different cultures through food. Live a more holistic life closer to nature,” she says.
Given the current scenario, the actor urges everyone to take all the necessary precautions and follow the Covid-19 guidelines. “In times like these, we can either sit and sulk about the pandemic that is not in our control, or think of ways to make the best of the situation,” she concludes.
