Hyderabad: A bottle of premium scotch once every week, a daily diet of three kg of exquisite dry fruits, apples, about 25 litres of milk every day, a full body massage with costly almond oil every Saturday — this bull is living life king size. Not surprising, given his size.
‘Baahubali’, who his owner says is India’s tallest, will be a show-stopper at the Sadar Festival, the carnival of bulls, happening in the city. To make his appearance at the festival on Saturday, ‘Baahubali’, named after the popular movie, stands tall at 7.5 feet, 18 feet long and weighs around 2,000 kg. The six-year-old bull has been specially brought in from Haryana to Chappal Bazar for the Sadar Festival.

For ‘Baahubali’, nothing is normal. His menu comprises 25 litres of milk every day, 3 kg of cashew nuts, almonds and raisins and other dry fruits and on weekends, he washes all this down with a bottle of premium scotch. The scotch, the handlers say, is to help the bull maintain sound health and a good digestive system.
The gigantic bull has a unique daily routine. To remain physically fit, he is taken for a three-km walk daily. He also goes for swimming every Sunday and in fact, has a swimming pool all for himself back home in Haryana. The owners also ensure that he gets a proper full body massage with almond oil every Saturday. Baahubali’s daily expenses are at least Rs 7,000, with three persons employed to take care of him.
As he is taken for processions or a regular walk, the bull also flaunts a three-kg gold chain on his neck, presented by the Akhila Bharatha Yadav Sangam. “Baahubali is a Murrah breed bull which we got from our relative Balbir Singh in Haryana for the Sadar Festival. He is an affectionate bull and does not harm anyone. After performing pooja, he will be taken out for a procession from Kachiguda to Narayanguda on Saturday. For one week, we spend about Rs 10 lakh-Rs 12 lakh on him,” said C Sandeep Yadav of Chappal Bazaar, one of the organisers of the festival, which is one of the most popular events for the Yadav community in the city.
With news of ‘Baahubali’ arriving in the city, people are thronging Chappal Bazaar to have a glimpse of the giant and, if possible, to click a selfie with him. The Sadar Festival falls on the second day after Diwali, and on this day, the bulls are made to wear flower garlands and have their horns painted before being taken out for a procession.
