Adilabad: Police arrested three persons for allegedly occupying land using fake documents, exposing a major land scam. Another accused is absconding.
Those arrested were identified as Nanam Venkata Ramana of Teachers Colony in Adilabad, Uskamalla Raghupathi of Mavala mandal centre, and Bejjavar Sanjeev Kumar, an employee of the AYUSH wing at RIMS-Adilabad. Police said the trio attempted to transfer seven house plots belonging to Milind Kortlawar to potential buyers by creating counterfeit land titles.
The accused reportedly offered a bribe of Rs.7 lakh to Adilabad Sub-Registrar Duppalapudi Ashok, who went into hiding after the scandal came to light. The plots were valued at Rs.2 crore. The victim approached police through the Message Your SP programme.
Mavala police registered a case against the four under relevant sections of the IPC and launched an investigation. The operation was led by Mavala Inspector Karra Swamy and Sub-Inspector Praveen.
