Three women farm laborers killed, 14 others injured as lorry hits jeep in Mancherial
Three women farm labourers from Maharashtra were killed and 14 others injured when a speeding coal-laden lorry rammed into a stationary jeep at Indaram crossroads on the Mancherial–Hyderabad State Highway early Monday. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Mancherial: In a tragic incident, three women farm daily-wage laborers from Maharashtra were killed on the spot, while 14 people sustained injuries when a speeding lorry crashed into a stationary jeep in which they were travelling on Mancherial-Hyderabad state highway at Indaram crossroads early on Monday morning.
Police said Meena Latelwar (45), Neelubai Manre (60) and Imlibai Sayyam (45), all from different parts of Chandrapur district sustained serious injuries when the lorry rammed into the jeep between 3.30 am and 4 am, causing spot death for the three and injuries to 14 people mostly women. The injured laborers also from Maharashtra were shifted to government general hospital in Mancherial town.
Twenty-three farm labourers from several places of Maharashtra were proceeding to Karimnagar district at the time of the mishap, carrying rations and their children. They stopped for a brief period at the crossroads for urination by parking the jeep on the roadside. Rash and negligent driving by the coal-laden lorry driver is suspected to be the cause of the mishap.
Migrant laborers of neighboring states are hired by farmers in Telangana considering their high performance and to reduce costs. The laborers camp near farms and are engaged in harvesting of cotton, plantation of paddy saplings and other activities.
A case was registered against Banoth Ramesh, the driver of the lorry from Mahbubabad district. Investigations were taken up.
