A big cat which has been moving around the forests and villages for the past few days in different mandals was sighted for the second day in a row in Tekulapalli mandal in the district on Sunday evening hours.
A passerby has captured the tiger on his smartphone as it crossed a road and ran into paddy fields. The tiger was spotted at Andugulagudem village in Tekulapalli forest range and was moved towards Yellandu, forest officials said. Forest range officer Mukthar Hussain and deputy range officer B Krishna visited the paddy fields and confirmed movements of the tiger based on its pug marks. They advised the villagers to be alert, not to go into the forests and not to harm the feline.
The tiger was moving around the forests to mark its territory. Once it finds a suitable place to settle down it would not come out of the forests, Assistant Conservator of Forests, A Appaiah told Telangana Today explaining the reason behind frequent sightings of the tiger in the district. Meanwhile, the SCCL officials have put their workers on alert as the place where the tiger was spotted was 10 kilometres away from the company’s Koyagudem opencast mine in the mandal.
