Hyderabad: The Telangana IT Association (TITA) through its Hackathon brand is looking to organise an agriculture-related hackathon so as to encourage and find innovative solutions by leveraging technology in the farm sector.
For this, TITA is taking the help of techies to chart action plans and devise strategies to make agriculture a profit making occupation. TITA president Sundeep Makthala visited the Jeedimetla Centre of Excellence, a research and training institute, to study prospects about the use of technology in agriculture. The team also studied various aspects of soil testing and how it is helpful in the farm sector.
Based on suggestions from Horticulture Department Commissioner Venkatram Reddy and Horticulture University in Mulugu, a delegation of 40 techies visited the Centre of Excellence in Jeedimetla and Mulugu. The team enquired and studied various innovations in the agriculture sector and farm mechanization techniques.
Makthala said that the Agriculture Hackathon will be the first-of-its-kind in the country though similar such events were held virtually elsewhere in the country. The event will witness events and discussion on all agri-aspects right from tilling of the land, sowing seeds to the harvesting of the crop.
