Hyderabad: TRS candidate Surabhi Vani Devi filed her nominations to contest the election for the Mahabunagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates constituency. She submitted the nomination papers to GHMC additional commissioner and Returning Officer Priyanka Ala at the GHMC office on Monday. Her candidature was finalised by Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister convened a meeting with the elected representatives and TRS leaders of the districts of Hyderabad, erstwhile Mahabubnagar and erstwhile Rangareddy at Pragathi Bhavan. He instructed the TRS leaders to ensure a sound victory for Vani Devi and discussed the election strategy in this regard, following which he handed over the TRS B-form to her. On the occasion, the TRS candidate assured to live up to the expectations of Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao and the aspirations of the people of Telangana State.
Prior to the meeting at Pragathi Bhavan, Vani Devi paid floral tributes to her father and former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao at PV Gyan Bhoomi on the Necklace Road. She was accompanied by TRS Parliamentary Party leader K Keshava Rao, Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, S Niranjan Reddy, P Sabitha Indra Reddy and several other legislators. Before filing her nominations, Vani Devi also paid floral tributes to the Telangana martyrs at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial in Gun Park.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav urged all the contestants withdraw their candidatures and ensure unanimous election of Vani Devi to pay the real tribute to the former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao.
