Hyderabad: TRS MPs on Monday staged a walk out from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha after the Centre failed to respond to their demand for a uniform national procurement policy as also a law to ensure Minimum Support Price for all crops. The TRS MPs have been protesting from day one of the winter session of Parliament that began last Monday.

The TRS Parliament members who have been staging protests inside and outside the Parliament over farmers issues, gave an adjournment motion on uniform national paddy procurement policy and also laws to ensure MSP to all crops. However, they were rejected immediately in both the Houses, forcing the MPs to rush into the Well of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. They displayed placards and demanded that the Centre give a clear statement on national uniform procurement policy and also address the Rabi (Yasangi) procurement issues.

There was, however, no response from the Union government, following which the TRS MPs announced in both Houses that they were staging a walkout in protest against the Centre’s attitude, and vowed to continue with their protests in different forms until the Centre comes to the rescue of farmers in Telangana.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu accepted the resignation of TRS MP Banda Prakash to the Rajya Sabha membership and made the announcement in this regard in the House on Monday. The Chairman said that he received a letter from Prakash on December 2 and his resignation was accepted on December 4. Prakash whose term was till April 2024, resigned from Rajya Sabha following his election to Telangana State Legislative Council under MLAs quota.
