Mancherial: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy asserted that Telangana was drawing attention of the country by implementing innovative welfare schemes and developmental activities. He laid the foundation stone to an integrated vegetable and meat market to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7.20 crore and a road over bridge (RoB) worth Rs 22.90 crore in Mandamarri town. He was accompanied by Peddapalli MP Dr B Venkatesh Netha, Government Whip Balka Suman, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Nallala Bhagyalaxmi.
Indrakaran said that Mission Bhageeratha scheme attracted the attention of the nation. He said that the government has proposed the cultivation of oil palm trees help Telangana achieve self-sufficiency in oil and to make agriculture profitable for farmers. He said that one could buy vegetables, meat and flowers at the integrated market once it was thrown to the public. The Minister informed that funds Rs 5 crore were released for creating an urban park in a sprawling 600 acres landscape in the coal belt town.
‘Implementing a slew of schemes’
He said that the State government was implementing a slew of schemes and developmental programmes for the welfare of the public and growth. He formally inaugurated the newly constructed building of Sakhi Centre here on Monday. The building was constructed at the cost of Rs 48 lakh.
Indrakaran said that the Sakhi Centre had resolved 594 cases out of the total registered 703 cases. The staffers of the facility were counseling to the victims of domestic violence, sexual harassment, dowry and other forms of violence. A toll free number 181 was created for the convenience of women in distress, he added.
The Minister praised the Dream Society, an Adilabad-based voluntary organisation which organises Sakhi Centre of Mancherial district for taking up various programmes. Collector Bharati Hollikeri, who was also present, said that the facility was extending protection to women who face harassment, violence at home and working place.
Indrakaran, later laid the foundation stone for the construction of additional rooms at District Hospital costing Rs 70 lakh, an e-learning centre-cum-skill development center at government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the district centre.
The Minister advised the farmers to go for an alternative crop system and to focus on cultivating inter crops. He instructed the officials concerned to complete the works of the skill development centre which would provide training programmes for unemployed youth, and the market by a period of a year. The workers belonging to Telangana would face problems due to lack of skills in a field when they migrate to Gulf countries, while their counterparts of Kerala excel in a sector abroad, he said.
Suman said that he was making efforts to develop the Chennur Assembly segment on many fronts. He stated that a special focus was laid on Mission Bhageeratha, sanitation of rural parts and improving greenery. He narrated developmental works being taken up in Chennur and many other civic bodies. He added that 560 double bed-room houses were being constructed for the poor.
