Hyderabad: To clear the festive rush of travelers during Dasara festival, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will operate 4,000 special buses from Hyderabad to various districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The TSRTC would run these buses from MGBS, JBS, Kukatpally, Dilsukhnagar, Ameerpet, ECIL, Uppal Cross Roads and LB Nagar to various destinations.
Accordingly, TSRTC has made arrangements at different bus points in the city to ferry passengers to their respective places between October 8 and 14. “We have increased the number of special buses in comparison to last year as several people will be looking to travel to their hometown,” shared a TSRTC official.
Moving on from last year’s dispute, when no special buses were operated between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, TSRTC plans to resume the services this year.
“Since many people from Andhra Pradesh stay in the city, we have arranged for 950 buses to operate during the festival. Due to the pandemic, the traffic between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has reduced. Approximately, the same number of buses are expected to operate from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana,” he added.
TSRTC officials have urged the passengers to make use of the website www.tsrtconline.in for booking tickets in advance. For any enquiry or information on buses contact: 8330933537 (MGBS), 040-27802203 (JBS), 04023747297 (Dilsukhnagar) and 9949958578 (Ameerpet).
Other neighbour States
While TSRTC is operating special buses towards Andhra Pradesh, the officials said there was no requirement for special services between Telangana and other neighbouring States.
“Since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic, the traffic between Telangana and other neighbouring States, including Andhra Pradesh, has reduced drastically. As most people continue to work from home, the buses plying between Hyderabad and Bengaluru are not having many passengers. We have around 10 to 12 buses between the two cities running every day. After studying the trend we have decided that the regular buses to Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are enough for the passengers during the festive season also,” the official added.
