TSWRTU seeks immediate hike in pay for 2,399 part‑time Gurukul teachers

The Telangana Residential Social Welfare Teachers’ Union has urged the State government to implement the long‑pending decision to enhance remuneration for 2,399 part‑time teachers in SC Gurukul institutions.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Residential Social Welfare Teachers’ Union (TSWRTU) urged the State government to immediately implement the decision to enhance the remuneration of 2,399 part-time teachers/lecturers working in SC gurukul institutions.

The SC Gurukul Society is presently running 268 institutions. Against 7,985 sanctioned teaching posts, only 4,888 regular teaching staff are currently in service, leaving 3,097 vacancies. In view of these vacancies, 2,399 part-time teachers/lecturers belonging to various cadres have been teaching for 15-20 years, the union said.

Their responsibilities include classroom teaching, completion of syllabus, monitoring students’ academic progress, conducting examinations and assessments, addressing students’ academic doubts, and participating in academic activities, it said.

It pointed out that a gap continues to exist between their service responsibilities and the remuneration being paid to them.

Despite the Board of Governors (BG) meeting approving remuneration enhancement on par with the MJPTBCWREIS on June 11, 2,399 part-time teachers/lecturers are still awaiting its implementation, it said.

Telangana Social Welfare Teachers’ union chairman Dr. Rama Laxman, along with representatives Balaswamy, Krishna, Pandu Naik and Eega Srinu, appealed to the government to implement the remuneration enhancement without further delay.
