Hyderabad: VOICE-4, a non-profit organisation, recently conducted the ‘Parichay’ module as part of its ‘Her Voice’ programme at MJPTBCWREIS, Shapur Nagar, where 480 adolescent girls actively participated in interactive learning sessions.
Through games, group discussions, activities and participatory exercises, students were encouraged to discuss issues affecting their lives while building confidence and critical thinking skills.
The module covered adolescent development, puberty, menstrual health and hygiene, gender equality, child rights, protection from violence and life skills. It also encouraged girls to challenge harmful gender stereotypes and social norms.
VOICE-4 founder Anusha Bharadwaj said it was inspiring to hear stories of girls making confident decisions about their lives.
“The trust they build with our counsellors creates a safe space where they can openly discuss sensitive issues. Our programme helps girls overcome the stigma surrounding puberty and menstruation while strengthening their confidence and aspirations,” she added.
The Her Voice programme is implemented in three phases – Parichay, Disha and Sakhi Peer Leadership – with each phase spanning 10 days. The programme enables girls to understand their bodies, health, safety, rights and future opportunities while developing leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
