Hyderabad: After being abused and feeling humiliated, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators and leaders, who defected to the Congress, are now vying different options, including a ‘ghar wapsi” to the BRS, quitting the Congress and joining other parties or even floating new outfits.
Ever since the BRS turncoats joined the Congress, they have been complaining of losing their relevance, likening the situation to that of being in a sinkhole and facing political oblivion. In a few constituencies, the turncoats and loyal Congress MLAs and leaders have been openly abusing each other.
Similar is the situation of Sirpur Kagaznagar former MLA Koneru Konappa, who switched loyalties from the BRS to the Congress. He has now started openly sharing his views with his supporters over the ‘support’, or rather the lack of it, for him in the Congress.
On Sunday, the former MLA held an Atmeeya Sammelanam with his supporters at Dabba village in Chintalamanepalli mandal. Later, speaking to media persons, Konappa said he had no differences with BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao or his family. When asked about the possibility of switching loyalties to other parties, the former MLA in a video, which is now going viral on social media platforms, said nothing could be ruled out.
“Considering the political situation, we may have to move to other parties but will not stay with the Congress. You can write this without doubt,” Konappa said to media persons.
Party sources said the former MLA was not on good terms with MLC Dande Vittal, who also had defected from the BRS to the Congress in 2024. Both the leaders are trying to gain political supremacy in the constituency.
A few days back in Kontela mandal, Konappa had alleged that the situation in the Congress was turning worse. A section of leaders were abusing and funds were not being released for executing different development works in the constituency.
“Even after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy approved the projects, funds are not being released. We are answerable to people in the constituency,” he had said.
There is speculation that the former MLA might even float a new party. Making his intentions clear, he has been talking to his followers about a political flag with white and blue colours.
