TUWJ leaders demand withdrawal of GO 252 in Adilabad

Journalists across Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts staged protests demanding the withdrawal of government order 252 on accreditation cards. They submitted representations to district Collectors, arguing that the order undermines their identity and self-respect.

Adilabad: Journalists from different unions demanded that the government immediately withdraw government order numbered 252 on accreditation cards for scribes, citing it would hamper their identity and self-respect.

They submitted representations to Collectors Rajarshi Shah, Kumar Deepak, Abhilasha Abhinav and Venkatesh Dothre as part of their protest against the order in Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts on Saturday.

Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) (143) Adilabad district president Betha Ramesh said that the flawed order would not only result in a reduction in the number of cards, but infringe upon their rights and self-respect. He opined that issuing the order was regrettable. He recalled that several promises made by the Congress were still not fulfilled so far.

Meanwhile, similar protests were witnessed in Nirmal, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts. Presidents of these districts Allam Ashok, D Umesh, Ravi Naik respectively, leaders T Arun, Parvathi Rajesh, Pittala Ramu and many others were present.
