Two-day Bird Walk festival concludes in Kaghaznagar

Kaghaznagar: The second edition of the two-day Bird Walk festival, hosted by the Forest department, concluded in Kaghaznagar forest division on Sunday.
Participants included nature lovers, wildlife photographers, birders and students belonging to several parts of Telangana visited irrigation tanks, which were habitats of birds located in Kaghaznagar, Sirpur (T), Penchikalpet and Bejjur forest ranges on the second day and clicked photographs of various bird species. Some of them spotted migratory and rare birds dwelling at the water bodies.
Adilabad Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) G Ramaligam, was the chief guest of the valedictory ceremony held in Kaghaznagar town, handed over certificates of participation and wooden dolls to nature lovers, wildlife photographers, birders and students. He stated that the department would organise different programs in different seasons, considering the overwhelming response to the event. Ramalingam expressed happiness over the huge turnout of participants for the event. He stated that Covid-19 pandemic taught us the need to protect the ecosystem created by God. Conservation of forests is the need of the hour considering adverse impacts of climate change. Everyone should strive hard for maintaining ecological balance which plays a vital role for the existence of humans.
District Forest Officer S Shantaram appreciated participants for taking part in the event, facing challenges and announced that the district would be converted into an exclusive ecotourism destination in Telangana. He stated that the department would conduct a slew of activities from December to Feb in a calendar year from now onwards. He said that the Asifabad division would be included in the events.
He added that the objective of the programme–to expose the wild of the region to nature lovers and to make them release the importance of forests was achieved. He stated that bird walks, trek and other thematic programmes would be hosted, attracting international tourists soon. He added steps were being taken for protecting the wild and was all praise for participants for following Covid-19 protocol. Kaghaznagar Forest Divisional Officer M Dinesh, Asifabad FDO Dinesh, Forest Range Officers S venugopal, Purnachandar, Dayakar, Shivakumar, deputy range officers Sudhakar, Prabhakar, Rama Devi, and many others were present.
