Two sub minor canals of SRSP breach in Suryapet
Sub minor 6L canal breached at Phanigiri and Sub minor 4R canal at Nagaram, which led to waste of Godavari waters released to SRSP canal to provide irrigation facility and filling of irrigation tanks

Suryapet: Sub-minor 6L canal and Sub-minor 4R canal of 71st Distributary Canal of Sri Ramsagar Project (SRSP) Stage-II breached in different places in Nagaram mandal in Suryapet district on Tuesday.
Sub minor 6L canal breached at Phanigiri and Sub minor 4R canal at Nagaram, which led to waste of Godavari waters released to SRSP canal to provide irrigation facility and filling of irrigation tanks.
Alerted by field level staff, Executive Engineer of SRSP Vijay Kumar and Assistant Engineer Amar rushed to the places where sub-canals breached and took up repair works immediately to close the breaches.
Speaking to the media, Amar said water was released to SRSP State-II canal from Bayyaram reservoir in Jangaon district on Sunday. The sub minor canals breached in two places in Nagaram mandal due to heavy flow of water.
Release of 1237 cusecs of water was continuing to the SRSP canal. “On receiving information about the breaches, we rushed to the spots and succeeded in repairing the breaches within a couple of hours,” he said.
