Two teachers suspended after Class VII student’s suicide in Mancherial residential school
Two teachers were suspended following the suicide of a Class VII student from a Telangana Social Welfare Residential School in Chennur, Mancherial district. Officials said the girl had reportedly been under stress due to personal issues and reprimand by teachers.
Mancherial: Two teachers were suspended following the suicide of a student from the Telangana Social Welfare Residential College (Girls), Chennur. The suspension order was issued by Warangal Zonal Officer Girija on Sunday evening.
According to the order, the teachers were suspended for their alleged role in the death of Shri Hindu (13), a Class VII student from Gangaram village. A committee comprising Girija, District Coordinating Officer Ramakalyani, senior lecturer Maheshwar Rao, and staff member Naveen conducted an inquiry into the incident and submitted a report to the District Collector and the Secretary of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS).
Officials said the girl had reportedly shown suicidal tendencies over the past six months. She was said to be depressed following the recent death of her uncle, health issues including chest pain, and after being reprimanded by teachers for disturbing a Class X student preparing for examinations, an official said. A suicide note purportedly written by the student was also submitted with the report.

Earlier, the parents of the student staged a sit-in protest outside a private hospital, demanding action against the teachers for allegedly harassing their daughter and showing negligence in saving her life. The protest was withdrawn after Mancherial RDO Srinivas Rao assured them that action would be taken if the teachers were found guilty and promised to constitute a committee to probe the incident.
Shri Hindu allegedly attempted suicide by consuming turpentine oil on March 25, reportedly due to depression linked to harassment by teachers. She was initially admitted to a government hospital in Chennur and later shifted to a private hospital after her condition deteriorated. She died while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, BRS district president Balka Suman held Labour Minister Dr G Vivek responsible for the incident and demanded his resignation. He criticised the minister for allegedly failing to inspect the school located in his Assembly constituency headquarters. Suman also claimed that 128 students had died by suicide across the State since the Congress came to power.
