Hyderabad: The S R Nagar police on Tuesday arrested two women who broke into temple and had allegedly stolen two idols from sanctum sanctorum four days ago.
The arrested Adidala Swarna Latha (29) and J Pavani (26), both residents of NBT Nagar, Banjara Hills Road No 1 had entered into the temple and took away idols of Shiva and Parvathi Devi.
According to the police, Swarna Latha had lost four of her relatives including husband in a span of four years between 2018 and 2021. Distressed over the events, she approached a local priest who advised her to perform daily rituals. “Swarna Latha could not afford to buy the idols and decided to steal it. She identified two idols at the Sri Vinayaka Temple and on getting an opportunity had stolen it,” said ACP Punjagutta, P Venkata Ramana.
Both the women were produced before the court and remanded.
