UK, Telangana explore off-campus UK university centres in State
The UK and Telangana are exploring collaborations in higher education, including setting up off-campus UK university centres, joint certifications, exchange programmes, and Chevening Fellowships. British officials met TSCHE representatives to discuss academic partnerships and research cooperation

Hyderabad: The UK and Telangana are exploring the feasibility of establishing off-campus centres of UK universities in the State.
To this effect, British Deputy High Commissioner to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Gareth Wynn Owen, who met Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) Chairman Prof V Balakista Reddy here on Friday, explored possible collaborations between the institutions of higher education of the UK and Telangana.
Gareth and Prof Reddy discussed a wide range of subjects, including potential tie-ups with the universities of Telangana for joint certification of select programmes by UK universities.
They also discussed joint online education initiatives, faculty and student exchange programmes, joint research projects, and joint publications through mutual funding agencies, integrated degree programmes, and dual degree programmes.
Discussions were also held on offering Chevening Fellowships in Science and Innovation and cybersecurity in collaboration with the State universities.
TGCHE Vice Chairman II Prof SK Mahamood and Secretary Prof Sriram Venkatesh were part of the discussions. The UK Deputy High Commissioner’s delegation included Piyush Awasthi, Senior Technology Advisor & Education Sector Lead; and Nalini Raghuraman, Political Economy Advisor.
