Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) and German universities have decided to strengthen strategic and academic cooperation, including joint research projects and research collaborations besides dual degree opportunities and international curriculum development, aligning with NEP 2020.

On Tuesday, a delegation of 21 German universities, led by Vice-Chancellors and vice-presidents, through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) visited the UoH here.

The visiting team explored viable financial models for student and faculty exchanges, and recent regulatory changes facilitating joint degrees with international universities.

To explore potential research collaborations, the delegation visited the UoH facilities, including Aspire BioNest, School of Life Sciences, School of Engineering Sciences and Technology, School of Physics, Electronics, Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences.

Dr Katja Lasch – director DAAD India, and Dr Kai Sicks – DAAD general secretary were part of the delegation. UoH Vice-Chancellor Prof BJ Rao provided an overview of the university’s mission, academic strengths, and global collaborations to the visiting team. He emphasised the growing importance of international collaborative education and the potential for combined degrees within existing regulatory frameworks.

Office for International Affairs director Prof Brahmanandam Manavathi presented the history and current activities of internationalisation at UoH. He highlighted the university’s Study in India programme, which began in 1998 with just eight students. Faculty members showcased ongoing research projects to the delegation.
