Sanagreddy: Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) will host the SPIC MACAY 10th International Convention from May 26 to June 1. This year’s convention will celebrate Indian classical music and dance, with renowned cultural artistes from across India set to perform.
As a prelude to the event, sarod maestro and Padma Vibhushan awardee Ustad Amjad Ali Khan mesmerised the audience at IIT-H with a soulful performance on Monday.
His concert marked the beginning of a series of cultural events leading up to the SPIC MACAY 10th International Convention. His intricate compositions and seamless improvisations highlighted the timeless beauty of Indian classical music, leaving the audience in awe.
Speaking after the performance, Khan expressed his joy in contributing to SPIC MACAY’s mission of preserving and promoting India’s cultural legacy.
Dr Kiran Seth, founder of SPIC MACAY and Padma Vibhushan Awardee, shared the vision behind creating an ‘ashram-like’ atmosphere during the convention to inspire youth to become not only artistes but also well-rounded human beings and scientists. He emphasised the deep connection between science and music, citing historical figures.

Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a voluntary movement dedicated to promoting Indian classical music, dance and culture among youth.
Founded in 1977 by Dr Kiran Seth, the movement seeks to enrich the quality of formal education by connecting students with the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India.
