Hyderabad: A prolonged technical disruption in the Vahan and Sarathi online platforms has brought several transport department services to a halt across the State, leaving vehicle owners, licence applicants and transport operators facing significant inconvenience on Tuesday.
The server issue, which has persisted for the past few days, affected a range of services including vehicle registrations, driving licence applications, learner’s licence tests, permit processing and payment of penalties.
Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the State witnessed heavy crowds as applicants arrived for scheduled appointments, only to find services unavailable.
With counters open but the online system inaccessible, officials were unable to process applications, leading to long waiting hours and growing frustration among visitors. Several applicants who had booked slots in advance were forced to return without completing their work.
The disruption has also created difficulties for owners of vehicles seized during enforcement drives. In several districts, tractor and trailer owners complained that delays in completing formalities were preventing the release of their vehicles at a time when agricultural activity is in full swing.
Transport department officials said the problem originated from the central servers that operate the Vahan and Sarathi platforms nationwide. As a result, the disruption was not limited to Telangana and affected services in multiple states.
The situation was further aggravated by the rush of applicants following the weekend break, resulting in overcrowding at several transport offices.
Vehicle owners expressed concern over the uncertainty surrounding the restoration of services and urged authorities to resolve the issue without further delay.
Meanwhile, transport department officials stated that the matter has been escalated to higher authorities and efforts are underway to restore normal operations.
Until the system is fully functional, many transport-related services are expected to remain pending, affecting thousands of applicants across the State.
