Karimnagar: Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Y Sunil Rao said the administration would develop walking tracks in all grounds in the town by spending Rs 1 crore.
Besides walking tracks, two cycling tracks — one each in Satavahana University and SRR College — would be developed, he said while laying foundation stone for children’s park and walking track in 7th division on Tuesday.
Sunil Rao said it was the responsibility of the corporation to protect the health of the public. In order to develop Karimnagar as a pollution-free city and protect the health of the public, the corporation was developing walking and cycling tracks and open gyms.
As part of Pattana Pragathi, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was directly sanctioning Rs 2.50 crore to the corporation every month.
Besides modernisation of graveyards and parks, walking and cycling tracks and open gyms have been developed. The corporation has decided to develop a park in every division and taken up 30 parks in the first phase.
Tender process for 15 parks being taken up with Rs 4 crore has already been finalised and works on some parks were under progress.
Besides SHE toilets for the convenience of women, common toilets were constructed with modern facilities. They would be made available for the public after handing over maintenance responsibility to outsourcing agencies, he informed.
