Hyderabad: The verbal war between State Planning Board Vice-Chairman G Chinna Reddy and Wanaparthy MLA T Megha Reddy continues to escalate.
After Chinna Reddy objected to Megha Reddy’s entry into the Congress from the BRS and alleged that he had secured the MLA ticket by offering money, the Wanaparthy MLA hit back. Megha Reddy lodged a complaint with TPCC Disciplinary Committee Chairman Mallu Ravi and demanded action against Chinna Reddy.
In his complaint, Megha Reddy referred to Chinna Reddy’s allegations that he had secured the party’s B-form by offering money. He also alleged that the State Planning Board Vice Chairman had colluded with the BRS.
“Chinna Reddy’s baseless allegations are damaging the Congress party’s reputation. He should be suspended from the party, failing which I will stage a protest at Gandhi Bhavan,” Megha Reddy said in his complaint, according to reports.
The Wanaparthy MLA is learnt to have handed over newspaper clippings and a pen drive containing evidence of Chinna Reddy’s alleged inappropriate comments to Mallu Ravi.
On Sunday, while addressing party workers in Gopalpet, Chinna Reddy alleged that Megha Reddy was working against the party’s interests. He also announced that he would continue his fight until Megha Reddy was expelled from the party.
The tussle between turncoat leaders and ‘original’ Congress leaders is not confined to Wanaparthy. Differences between loyal Congress leaders and those who joined the party from other parties are flaring up in several constituencies.
Despite repeated instructions from the party leadership not to discuss such issues publicly, leaders continue to level charges against each other.
