Warangal: Equipping girls and women with vocational skills was essential for their empowerment and ensuring employment opportunities for them, stated Sarvodaya Youth Organisation (SYO) secretary Dr. Pallepadu Damodar.
He launched a free computer training centre at the organisation’s field office at Konayimakula in Geesugonda mandal of Warangal district and said that for the past 33 years the organisation has been conducting various programmes aimed at the empowerment and economic development of women in rural villages.
Dr. Damodar emphasised that establishing training centres accessible within villages ensures family support for rural women and girls and is convenient as they involve no financial cost as they were designed specifically for women.
Providing free computer training to women and girls in villages significantly enhances their prospects for securing better employment. At present, computer literacy has become a necessity; a mandatory requirement for entry-level jobs and invaluable for career opportunities for women.
Approximately 3,000 women and girls have completed computer training through the Sarvodaya Organisation in Atmakur, Parkal, Kamalapur, Geesugonda and Sangem mandals in the district so far. Many of them are now employed in medical shops, gas agencies, and banks, Dr. Damodar noted.
Despite being educated, women in rural areas often struggle to enhance their technical skills due to a lack of opportunities and facilities. Keeping the financial conditions of the families in mind, the organisation established the free computer training centre at the mandal headquarters, he said.
Konnayimakula sarpanch Vajra Raju commended the organisation’s initiatives for women. The organisation’s project manager Kadiraj, training coordinator Indira, field officer Akhtar, Ravinder, Vani, Suhasini, computer faculty Bharathi and others were present.
