Sangareddy: A Pickup truck ran amok in Narayankhed town killing two women, including a sanitation worker, at Ryakal Road early on Monday morning.
The driver, who reportedly lost control over the steering due to lack of sleep, hit four electric poles before the vehicle came to a halt. The death was instant for both the women as they suffered multiple injuries.
The victims were identified as Chandramma (45), a resident of Manpur and working as a sweeper with Narayankhed Municipality and Patnam Vittam (44), a resident of Nehru Nagar in the town.The bodies were shifted to Area Hospital Narayankhed for postmortem.
Municipal Commissioner Malla Reddy, who visited the spot, expressed shock over the incident. He assured all support to the family of Chandramma. Inspector Ravindar Reddy said negligent driving was the sole cause for the incident. The Inspector said the driver appears to have dozed off while driving leading to the accident.
