Kothagudem: Three youngsters riding a motorbike hit barricades set up by police and injured a constable at Bhadrachalam in the district in a bid to escape from the police.

According to the police, the youths were riding on a bike at high speed and when the police tried to stop them at Godavari bridge check post, they hit the barricade and fled. The local CI Ramesh and two constables chased the bike, but in vain.

The incident that took place on Saturday came to light on Sunday. The CCTV cameras installed at the check post recorded the incident.

It was suspected that the accused, who were carrying a bag with them, might have been be smuggling ganja.

The trio abandoned the bike at Nagaram in Paloncha mandal. The police seized the vehicle. It is learnt that the vehicle is from Visakhapatnam and was reported stolen three months ago.
