Hyderabad: Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall soaked Hyderabad and its surrounding districts overnight, with the heaviest showers occurring in parts of Medchal-Malkajgiri and Quthbullapur.

The rain, which began late Friday and continued into early Saturday morning, brought significant downpours to several areas.

While some parts of the city experienced waterlogging, the impact on daily life was minimal as Friday was a public holiday in the occasion of 79th Indian Independence Day.

Thanks to overnight showers, people of Hyderabad and neighbouring districts woke up to overcast skies.

According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TDPS), several locations recorded heavy rainfall between Friday and Saturday.

The highest was at Rajiv Gruhakalpa in Medchal-Malkajgiri with 86.3 mm, followed by Kukatpally Village (Basthi Dawakhana) at 80.0 mm, Shamshiguda at 75.3 mm, Shapur Nagar with 74.3 mm, and ESS Gajjularamaram with 74.3 mm. ESS Jeedimetla also received a significant 78.3 mm.

Other areas that received significant rainfall between 50 and 60 mm include PHC Center, Balaji Nagar (57.3 mm), Ferozguda Comm Hall (54.5 mm), and ESS Balanagar (53.8 mm).
