Known for her fiery and energetic performances, Manasi had already become a fan favorite. Whether it was a soulful melody or a high-energy number, she handled every song with power and confidence, making her the perfect and deserving winner of this season.
In an exclusive Q & A with Telangana Today, Manasi opened up about her journey on Indian Idol, the fun, and her plans after the show.
Q: Can you tell us about your background and the most exciting part of being on Indian Idol?
Manasi: I come from a simple background, and for me, the most exciting part was performing live on stage. I also loved all the backstage fun with the other contestants. Every day was a new adventure.
Q: Can you share a fun or unforgettable moment from the show?
Manasi: There were many, to be honest. But one moment I’ll never forget was the fun interview with Akshay sir on stage. I jokingly asked him, “Aap kayse pati ho, mereko kayse malum?” ( How would I know what kind of husband you are?) That made everyone laugh.
Q: How did you handle the pressure of performing in front of the judges and a huge audience?
Manasi: Sometimes I did feel nervous, but the moment I started singing, I forgot everything else. Music kept me focused.
Q: Which judge’s feedback meant the most to you, and why?
Manasi: All three judges were very special, but when Shreya ma’am said, “Your voice is really unique. After years, I’ve heard a voice like this,” it touched my heart. I’ll always remember that.
Q: How has your singing style evolved during the competition?
Manasi: I tried singing all kinds of songs during the show. That helped me grow and made me more comfortable with different genres. I feel like I’ve become a better and more confident singer now.
Q: What’s your favorite genre of music to sing?
Manasi: I love powerful songs—rock, peppy numbers, jazz, blues. I also enjoy singing in Sunidhi Chauhan’s style. It’s fun and challenging.
Q: Have you ever forgotten lyrics on stage? How did you handle it?
Manasi: Yes, I think it happens to everyone at least once. It happened to me too, but I didn’t stop. I just sang some different words and continued. That’s how live shows are.
Q: If you could dedicate a song to your family, which one would it be?
Manasi: It would be “Tera mujhse hai pehle ka naata koi,” from “Aa Gale Lag Jaa.” That song says everything I feel for them.
Q: What’s the first thing you did after the finale?
Manasi: Music and food. I relaxed for a while, sang freely and enjoyed good food with my family and friends.
Q: Do you have plans to release your own music soon?
Manasi: Absolutely, yes. Very soon. I can’t wait to share it with everyone.
Q: What advice would you give to young singers who dream of being on Indian Idol?
Manasi: Believe in yourself. Keep practicing and give your best. Just rock it.
Q: How do you feel about all the love and support from your fans?
Manasi: Without my audience, I’m nothing. They are my family. I’m really grateful and thankful for all the love. Please keep blessing me so I can continue to bring beautiful songs to you.
