Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In a tragic incident, a woman and her seven-year old son were killed on the spot and two others sustained injuries when they came under the wheels of a lorry after a two-wheeler knocked down the motorbike in which they were travelling on the outskirts of Rebbena mandal centre on Sunday. The condition of one of the injured is learned to be critical.
Rebbena Sub-Inspector P Bhavani Sen said that the deceased was Vennaampalli Sangeetha, a 27-year old and her son Akhil belonging to Rajiv Nagar in Mancherial district. The injured were Sangeetha’s brother Shiva Kumar and eldest Siddu.
Sangeetha received fatal injuries to her head when they were crushed by the lorry after falling down when the two-wheeler, which came from a street dashed their two-wheeler, resulting in instantaneous death for her and her son and severe injuries for her elder son and brother. The injured were rushed to a government hospital in Karimnagar. The medical condition of the child is said to be serious.
She along with two sons and brother were returning to the residence of her in-laws at Chedwai village in Penchikalpet mandal at the time of the incident. She came to Rajiv Nagar to celebrate Bathukamma festival. A pall of gloom descended over Rajiv Nagar following two deaths.
Upon receiving information about the mishap, Rebbena police rushed to the spot and shifted the body of Sangeetha to the district headquarters hospital. They made inquiries into the accident. Rash and negligent driving by the biker and the driver of the lorry is suspected to be the cause of the mishap.
Rajesh, elder brother of Sangeetha lodged a complaint with police. A case was registered against the driver of the lorry and the motorcycle.
