Woman candidate who died during campaign wins in Rangareddy

Despite her death, she won the ward member election by 30 votes against her rival candidate.

Hyderabad: A woman candidate who died while campaigning has been elected as a ward member in Rangareddy district.
In the Masaniguda panchayat elections under Shankarpally mandal, Palle Latha (42) had filed her nomination for the Ward Member post from the eighth ward. However, while campaigning on Sunday evening, she suddenly collapsed after complaining of chest pain and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead, according to reports.
Despite her death, Latha emerged victorious over her rival Palle Anitha with a margin of 30 votes. As Latha passed away before the declaration of results, district officials said a fresh notification would be issued for the eighth ward and elections would be conducted accordingly.
