Woman, daughter killed in a accident in Kothagudem
Three persons, including a woman and her daughter, were killed in separate road accidents in Kothagudem district on Wednesday. Two others were seriously injured. Locals blamed speeding sand lorries and coal tippers for frequent mishaps

Kothagudem: Three persons died and two were seriously injured in different road accidents in the district on Wednesday.
A woman, Payam Dhanalakshmi (45), and her daughter Jayashree (13) died on the spot in an accident at Sudimalla stage on the Yellandu-Kothagudem road in Yellandu mandal. The woman’s husband, Payam Suresh, and their son, Satvik, suffered serious injuries. They belong to Kollapuram village in the mandal.
According to police, they fell down from a two-wheeler after it was hit by another vehicle. A speeding coal tipper coming from behind mowed down the woman and her daughter. The bodies were shifted to the morgue at Yellandu Government Hospital and an investigation is under way.
The injured were shifted to the Government General Hospital in Khammam. Road accidents have become common as sand lorries and coal tippers travel at high speed on the Kothagudem-Yellandu main road. Yet, no action has been taken by the officials, the locals complained.
In another accident near Gangaram in Tekulapalli mandal, a man, Korsa Rambabu (30), of Lachchagudem village in the mandal was seriously injured when he was hit by an ice cream cart coming from the opposite direction while he was going to Allapalli from Lachchagudem on a bike.
He died while being taken to the Government General Hospital in Kothagudem for treatment. Bodu police inspected the accident spot, registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
