Karimnagar: A woman allegedly killed her husband by administering a high dose of blood pressure and sleeping tablets before attempting to pass it off as a natural death. The incident occurred on September 17 in Saptagiri Colony here.
Producing the accused before the media on Thursday, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam detailed the case.
According to police, Kathi Suresh and Mounika, who married for love in 2015, had two children. About nine months ago, Mounika reportedly entered prostitution and developed an intimate relationship with one Dommati Ajay.
Unable to bear her husband’s constant demand for money, Mounika decided to eliminate him, allegedly on Ajay’s advice. She, along with her associates, sex workers Arige Srija and Vemula Radha, a medical agency owner Potula Shiva Krishna, and one Nalla Devadas, conspired to kill Suresh.
Their first attempt failed when Mounika mixed 15 Viagra tablets into his meal, but Suresh refused to eat due to its foul odour. In the second attempt, she crushed BP tablets (Telmikind-H80) and sleeping pills (Trika) and mixed them into his liquor. After consuming the drink, Suresh fell unconscious.
Mounika then allegedly strangled him with her saree. After confirming his death, she called her in-laws and misled them by claiming Suresh had fainted during intercourse.
The family rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police, who initially registered a case of suspicious death, later uncovered the murder plot. Mounika and her five accomplices, Srija, Radha, Ajay, Shiva Krishna, and Devadas, have been arrested.
