Peddapalli: Even when the family members and relatives are not coming forward to touch Corona patients’ bodies, a woman public representative showcased her humanity by performing the funeral of a Covid patient. Besides making all arrangements for the funeral, she personally drove the vehicle down to the graveyard by placing the body in a tractor.

This incident took place in Maddiryala village of Anthergaon mandal on Tuesday. The dynamic lady is Kandula Sandhya Rani, ZPTC from Palakurthi.

According to villagers, a farmer, Korandla Pratap (45), a native of Maddiryala, was infected by the coronavirus 15 days ago. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Karimnagar on Monday evening. His wife and two children were also infected with the virus and were in isolation. Due to fear of contracting the diseases, no relative has come forward to perform the funeral of Pratap.

Moved by the incident, Sandya Rani along with her team rushed to the village and made all arrangements for final rites. She, by wearing a PPE kit, helped her followers to place the dead body in the tractor. Going a step ahead, she drove the tractor down to the graveyard where the final rites of Pratap were performed by following all rituals.
