Peddapalli: Women staged a protest by climbing an overhead water tank in Adavisrirampur of Mutharam mandal on Tuesday, alleging irregularities in the allocation of Indiramma houses.
Homeless families had applied for houses under the Indiramma scheme during the Prajapala programme last year. Officials later conducted inspections by visiting the applicants’ houses.
Although the names of 60 beneficiaries were finalised by the Indiramma committee, only half of them were allotted houses.
The agitating women alleged that ineligible persons had been included in the list and genuine applicants were left out. They demanded that officials take corrective action and sanction houses to eligible families.
Police rushed to the spot and convinced the women to withdraw their protest.
