Warangal: The State government under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is taking all steps for the metamorphosis of the education sector by setting up residential schools and colleges including the ‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ scheme.
The government is also working towards the development of the students of the tribal community by setting up more educational institutions for them, said Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod. She also added that a degree college for tribal women would be sanctioned to Narsampet soon. The Minister in the presence of Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy inaugurated the Telangana State Tribal Welfare Residential School and Junior College (TSTWRS & JC) at Narsampet in the district on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, she ridiculed the BJP led union government for allocating only Rs 8,400 crore in the Budget 2022-23 towards tribal welfare and development. “We must remember that the Telangana State government allocated Rs 12,304 crore for tribals in 2021-22. But the Centre allocated Rs 8,400 crore to the Tribal Welfare Department across the country. This shows the sincerity of the NDA government and BJP for the tribals,” she said.
Stating that the Telangana government took up several measures to encourage the tribals in education, Satyavthi said that the credit for setting up residential Degree Colleges for tribal women in the country goes to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. “In addition to the conventional courses, we are offering courses like Integrated Law College, PG Chemistry, Interior Design, Photography, and Fine Arts for the tribal students,” she added.
Referring to ‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’, she said, “We are converting all schools into English medium in the State. We are converting one-third of all schools under the Tribal Welfare Department into English medium. This will benefit 1,30,000 residential school students.
MLA Peddi Sudhrashan Reddy said that as many as seven residential schools had been upgraded to degree and PG colleges in Narsampet constituency. “I will remain indebted to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for sanctioning many educational institutions to Narsampet. The Sainik School at Ashok Nagar was also upgraded to Inter and Degree College,” he added. District Collector Dr B Gopi and others attended the programme.
